About me
Meet Your Narrator...
Born in Montreal, Quebec and growing up in the snow belt of Ottawa, On. Michael received a Classical conservatory training at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy in NYC.
Michael is a musical soul, who enjoys physical and vocal expression and stories that touches the soul, and expand our experience. He brings 30 years of script analysis, dialect work, vulnerability, invention and complexity to his dramatic and comedic voicing.
His humour, warmth and playfulness are hallmarks of his style of telling magical reality fairytales, and for portraying the juvenility, confusion and self-discovery of YA novel characters. As a father of two young girls his great love is reading them stories that give insight into growing up, navigating relationships and dealing with conflict, stories that both reveal childrens' power and help develop confidence in their own ideas.
Michael's enthusiasm for descriptive world building and bringing the impossible to life with his voice, makes him a fine guide in SciFi and Fantasy genres alike. His talent for sustaining tension, illuminating discovery, and creating grounded characters also partners well with Mysteries, Thrillers, and Political intrigues.
As a fight director, swordsman, martial artists and stuntman, Michael is often cast as edgy, intimidating characters with a weapon. He is adept at bringing edge of your seat action, intense repartee and physical prowess to a sonic landscape; as well as providing weight to richly drawn villains, and complex male protagonists. He brings grit and deadly seriousness to spy hero’s, honourable warriors, soldiers and magic weavers alike.
Having faced his own mental health challenges, he has great insight into the psychology of "Outsiders" trying to understand and navigate their world - and the compassion to voice empathetic materials that may be employed in Self help, DIY, and instructional books. As a teaching enthusiast with over a decade of teaching, he loves playing the educator who invites, loves his subject and makes learning feel "cool" and fun!
When not on the Mic (not the person) , Mike (the person) still teaches the occasional sword class, enjoys comics and graphic novels, and can be found fearlessly singing his original songs on the street corner with his PA system. But, his safe place is reading aloud and snuggling in - or jumping up and down - on the bed with his girls, while twisting every fibre in every corner of his vocal apparatus to see what voices can make them laugh the most.
